Christmas Holiday Service Challenge Here is a challenge for you. Complete 20 hours service between the time you finish school and the New Year and it will only take an hour a day. Here is a list of ideas to help you with this challenge. Make paper chains for Christmas decorations & give to old folks homes etc Take a small gift to a family in need. Have a clean out of old toys and clothes donate to those a charity Help others to go shopping (eg go with them and push the trolley and carry the bags) Make biscuits to hand out to those in need Advent Pledge, whereby they promise to do something for all of advent (or something different for each day) eg remember those who truly need help, express love to family in more direct ways, look for chances to share what I have, initiate acts of peacemaking within circle of family & friends Do a secret good turn for someone Learn carols from other lands and then sing them with people from that area Practice setting the table ready for entertaining and how to be a good hostess Participate in a carol singing service Babysit so a young mum can go Christmas shopping without the Kids Wrap gifts for elderly people - stiff fingers & poor eyesight can make this difficult House watch for holidaying neighbours - feed the pets, water the garden/indoor plants, mow the lawns, collect the mail etc Assist with school hoilday programme Help out at boarding kennels, cattery, SPCA, pound etc Visit kids in hospital over Christmas & during the holidays Help wrap donated toys for a charity Donate food to a food bank Collect & donate pet food to a boarding kennels, cattery, SPCA, pound etc Assist at a Christmas meal for the homeless, elderly etc Decorate Christmas Trees and give them to Nursing homes, Old Folk centres, Hospitals etc Create rainy day or boredom buster kits for pre-schoolers or younger school children. Sing Carols at senior citizen centres Make homemade Christmas cards/decorations and give them away or sell them & donate the money to a charity.
